Look what we've been up to!
To start our history topic this half term, we became archaeologists for the afternoon and  discovered ancient artefacts hidden in the sand. We enjoyed discussing what the different artefacts could have been used for and what this told us about life in Viking times.
We also learnt about Viking Homelands and Viking Settlements. The children enjoyed creating their own Viking invasion maps outside in the playground to show where the Vikings came from and where they invaded.
In literacy, we went outside on to the field to inspire our writing. We were using our senses to describe a setting using some powerful adjectives and similes. The children were then able to apply this to their Viking Saga's imaging what a Viking would be able to sense back in 793AD. We were also able to compare life now to life in the Viking period.
In science this week, we have been testing which material would provide the best protection underneath chainmail armour. We found out that leather was the best material for our Viking warrior.
In maths this week, we have been looking at negative numbers. We played a series of games to get used to moving up and down the number line past 0.
In science this half term, we have been learning about the processes of seperating using filteration, evaporation and sieving.
In RE this half term we are looking at Jesus the Messiah. To understand the qualities of the Messiah, we created radio job adverts for a new Messiah. This helped us to explain what the Jewish people were expecting in a Messiah.
Children in Need 2020 - We enjoyed a fancy dress day! Don't they look great?
Sky Class have been treated to some new play equipment for break times. They have really enjoyed challenging each other at table tennis!
In maths we have been exploring the factors and common factors of a number. We used a Venn Diagram to identify the common factors.
