This week EYFS have been investigating colour mixing potions as part of our witches and wizards topic.
During our Understanding of the world activity, the children had to carefully scoop different colour powder paint into a pot, add water and mix.
As part of our Dear Zoo topic the children were challenged to construct a giraffe enclosure.

Home Learning Challenges - Reception - Autumn 2 2021
The lovely learning challenge was to create a home for the Autumn animals.
We used ribbons and the space on the field to create firework movements.
Lovely Learning challenge: to say the fire sound and squirt the sound with water!
The children worked together to create an obstacle course.
The children used their maths skills to count the dots on the present labels and match the present to the correct number door!
The children have been writing Christmas cards and posting them in our outdoor post box.
We have a Santa's workshop in Seagull class! We are helping Santa wrap the presents!
We enjoyed a live reading session with Nick Sharratt who was reading his new book, Ketchup On Your Reindeer.
We have been planting spring bulbs around our EYFS and Key Stage one playground. We enjoyed talking about what colours they may grow into.

Home Learning Challenges - Reception - Seagulls - Spring 1 2022
During our winter topic we read a story about a snow ghost, the children built the snow ghost a new home. They pretended to be the ghost!
Our PE focus this half term is gymnastics, we have been learning about different poses, balance and how to travel across the gym mats.
The children have been creating 3D maps using construction resources and sorting animals into different groups.
The children have been looking at where the artic is on maps and globes.
We have been discussing the different habitats of animals and what it feels like to live somewhere really cold! The children had to melt the ice
The children are working together to create a 3D world map.
Happy Chinese New Year, we have been using outdoor construction resources to create dragons!
We have enjoyed cooking Chinese food for our friends in our outdoor Chinese café.
We have been creating junk modelling boats and testing them on water to see if they will float or sink!
We have been reading Lost and Found, we decided to help the boy and the penguin and construct boats for them!
We have been using playdough and loose parts to create snowmen!
We made tin boats and tested our constructions on water, we blew the boats to make them move.
We also tested our boats to see how many small world people can be placed on the boat before it starts to sink!
During our PE sessions we are learning all about gymnastics. We have learnt different poses like straddle, pike, stretch, tuck and star.
We have also been learning how to jump off different height equipment and how to land safely on the mat.
The children went on a Percy the Park Keeper reading hunt. The children had to find the pictures and then find the correct matching word.
We have been counting jumping frogs and writing down how many are in the pond and how many are on the grass.
During maths we have been investigating what makes 5 altogether. We sang the song 5 little speckled frogs. The friends made a pond for the frogs
Winter Poems
EYFS have been enjoying making frogs hop into a pond. The children have to count how many frogs are in the pond and how many are on the log.

World Book Day letter to families
We observed the chicks hatch and then looked after them.
We made sure they had a clean cage, water and food.
We carefully held the chicks.
There was an attempted break in! Who tried to steal the chicks?
The children had to read the clues to solves the crime.
The children worked together to create a Easter garden, can you see the cross and cave?
We welcomed some visitors from All Saints church, they helped us retell the story of Easter through a drama workshop.
The bulbs we planted are growing, we have been watering the flowers.
The workbench challenge was to use the magnetic tiles to create farm animal pens. The children have been using Ipads to record their learning.
Easter loose parts challenge! The children had to use various loose parts to create an Easter egg.
At the maths learning area, the children had to sort the Easter objects.
The children were challenged to create a new farm for the animals. They further developed their play sorting the animals into groups.

As part of our Oracy project we have been answering questions in groups and learning to listen and take turns.
Today's question: How would you feel if you were late for school?
"I would be happy to be at home to play."
"I would be sad because you would start without me."
Yesterday's question got a great response, how would you feel on a rollercoaster?
- EYFS have planted sunflower seeds and are observing their growth. We have been learning about the different parts of a flower and what flowers and plants need to be able to grow.
- We have been setting up and using our outdoor role play garden center. The children have been using money to buy different resources during their role play games.
The children initiated their play using pipes as fishing rods to fish for large fish in the sea! Great for developing our gross motor skills!
